Essentials for SSC CHSL 2018 Exam Preparation

We have stepped into New Year 2018 and let’s begin with the studies and aspirations to make your dreams come true. Last week of the year ended up with a hope with SSC CHSL 2018 notification whose last date for the application was 27.12.2017. Hope all those who were waiting for this GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY of 2018 must have filled –in their application well in time.

Dates announced by the Staff Selection Commission for CHSL examination is 4.3.2018 to 26.3.2018. Time is less and work is more, if you start your preparation in January 2018 then you can still have some chances of qualifying this exam. Before you start preparing it is better to know exam pattern and syllabus which can be downloaded from www.ssc.nic.in on the official notification page of SSC CHSL 2018 Exam.

In a nut shell one can say that if you were good in your academics in your school days then it is only a matter of revision of some of the important topics listed in the syllabus of SSC CHSL 2018 Exam notification.

Exam Pattern of SSC CHSL 2018:

This examination will be conducted in three Tiers namely, Tier –I, Tier – II and Tier – III.

Exam Pattern of Tier – I (Objective type)

It will be computer based examination with multiple choice questions on four topics such as Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and General Awareness. Paper will be divided into four sections with 25 MCQs on each of these topics with 2 marks each. Time duration will be 60 minutes to solve 100 MCQs but for VH/ OH (afflicted by Cerebral Palsy and OH with deformity in writing hand, etc, categories the time duration is 80 Minutes. The medium for the question paper will be both Hindi and English except for the English Language section. Every wrong answer will be penalized by a negative marking of 0.50 marks.

Candidates who will qualify Tier I of SSC CHSL 2018 Examination will have to appear in Tier II which is a Descriptive paper

Exam Pattern of Tier-II (Descriptive Paper)

Tier II is a descriptive paper which will be conducted in Pen and Paper Mode. It will be of 100 marks for one hour duration. But for other categories like for VH/ OH (afflicted by Cerebral Palsy and OH with deformity in writing hand, etc, will be given 20 minutes extra besides 1 hour. This paper will have an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/Application of approximately 150-200 words. The qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent. The performance in Tier II would be considered while preparing merit. One can write this exam either in Hindi or in English. In case anyone writes part paper in Hindi and Part in English then it will not be evaluated.

Tier-III Examination- Skill Test /Typing Test

Tier-III would be the Skill Test/ Typing Test. It would be of qualifying nature. The absolute worth of the successful candidates would be determined on the basis of total marks scored by them in Tier-I and Tier-II. Candidates who will qualify Tier III will be called for Document Verification to finally check the credentials of the candidates as mentioned in their online Application Form.
